WHITEFISH -The summer season is officially coming to Whitefish Mountain Resort.

The resort will open daily for summer activities starting on Saturday, June 16th  after opening earlier than ever for three weekends of summer activities.

Ten 10 additional mountain bike trails will open including Kashmir, Freebird, The Summit Trail and the Overflow Zone. Runaway Train and GNR will remain closed due to snow and are expected to open at the end of June.

“We are pleased that this year’s early opening provided an opportunity for those seeking outdoor activities on the weekends.  As we enter 7-day operations on June 16, we are excited to offer mountain bikers top-to-bottom trails.  Those trails should be in great shape,” Whitefish Mountain Resort CEO Dan Graves said.

The resort will also open the Strider Bike Park — for aspiring mountain bikers ages two-to-six — who can practice their balance and riding skills on pedal-less bikes as roll through the dirt course located next to the Base Lodge patio.

The Whitefish Bike Park will host two regional races including the Northwest Cup, one of the country’s premier downhill race series for the first time ever this summer. The competition will be held on Sunday, August 26th.

Another new addition at the resort will allow local downhill riders to have their own night of racing on the mountain. The new “Ten Dollar Downhill” series begins June 20th.
