KALISPELL – A Marion man was arrested after law enforcement said he fired several shots at his wife and a pastor Tuesday morning.

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of shots fired in Marion around 10 a.m.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said in a release that 52-year-old John Anthony Evangelestomp fired a handgun at his wife and a pastor who had been at the residence speaking with them.

The Flathead County SWAT Team and negotiators were called in when he went back into the residence, because he was still believed to be armed.

Curry says negotiators were successful in convincing him to come out unarmed and he was then taken into custody without incident. He is currently awaiting formal felony charges.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
