MISSOULA – There’s some fake money making the rounds in the Mining City and the Garden City.

The Missoula Police Department has been receiving reports of counterfeit bills being passed around the city.

The reports have generally been in regard to $100 bills, according to MPD.

However, there was recently a counterfeit $50 bill passed.

One of these bills was said to have characters from an Asian alphabet printed on it in red; similar to what has been seen in adjacent jurisdictions.

The Polson Police Department reported similar such incidences earlier this month.

Butte law enforcement also issued a warning about counterfeit money on Tuesday.

These bills are said to be used for training purposes and are not real.

Business owners are urged to keep an eye out for the fake money and to report any to local law enforcement.
