On Wednesday afternoon, divers continued the search for Jason Azure who is presumed to have drowned after he jumped into the Missouri River on Friday to save someone who fell in.
The other person was able to get out, but 40-year-old Azure did not resurface.
According to the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office, sonar equipment picked up something unusual on Monday.
The Sheriff’s Office and Tribal Police requested a dive team and a team from Kalispell arrived on Wednesday afternoon.
The divers are focusing on the area where Azure went into the water.

Jestin Dupree, a Fort Peck Tribal Councilman, has been helping with the search and shared the following information:
Today I had the chance to see first hand how our local law enforcement personnel work together in search of Jason Azure. I was on the boat with Dan McKee and David Dale from the Tribes Fish and Game Dept, MHP Derek Werner was out on his boat with Ft Peck Tribes Criminal Investigator Kenny Trottier, Roosevelt County Sheriffs Dept had Sheriff Jason Fredricks, Deputies Clay McGeshick, Pilar Kuntz, and Orrin Cantrell out in their boat, The Ft Peck Tribes Law and Justice Dept boat was out with Chief Summers and Officer Chris Grey Bear, and there was a search and rescue boat coming in from Williston, ND.
Troy Blount and Patrick O’Connor from the Sheriffs Dept were checking the riverbanks on 4 wheelers. Tracy O’Connor flies from Poplar to Glasgow daily for a mail run and he’s agreed to do a daily fly by on the Missouri River from Poplar to Wolf Point. Paul Azure is assisting with his personal boat. There have been numerous other people out assisting with the search and everyone is grateful for all the help. Derek Werner and the Search and Rescue Boat from Williston had sonar equipment that was utilized today.
We are all out searching for Jason Azure and will continue to do so until he’s found.
