BILLINGS – The man selected to lead Billings Public Schools has decided to remain in New Jersey, after originally agreeing to take the position as Billings School District 2 superintendent.

In a letter sent to the Board of Trustees, Dr. Ross Kasun informed the district "the timing was not right for him to make such a significant professional and personal change, largely because of recent events in his life."

Helena’s Greg Upham, the other finalist for the job, will be contacted to discuss his possible employment, district officials said.

According to the Kasun’s letter, the decision was not based on anything due to the district.

"He shared with us he was quite impressed with the District, staff and Board. He simply needed to make the decision to remain with his family," the letter stated.
