BOZEMAN – This week marks National Children’s Book Week, and the Bozeman Public Library celebrated on Wednesday with a reading in Spanish.

About 20 children participated and listened to readings of two different books, in both English and Spanish.

The kids also learned how to count in Spanish, along with a few new vocabulary words.

Cindy Christin, supervisor for children’s services at the Bozeman Public Library, says that while they celebrate children’s books all year long, this week is about expanding the children’s horizons.

"The books at the library reflect all cultures, all languages, the entire world,” Christin said. “I think it’s kind of our duty to make the children’s world here a little bit larger than what they might just see in their school or in their homes."

The library will round out the week by hosting ‘Reading with a Dentist,’ on Friday, to help get kids a little more comfortable with visits to the dentist. The readings will be held at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m.
