The 7th Annual Take Pride in our Parks was held Saturday and more than 150 people volunteered to help clean up 21 of Great Falls’ 57 parks.
Some businesses like General Mills, Scheels, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, recruited teams to adopt parks around the community.
“We’re doing tasks that hopefully help the park and recreation department so it’s things like spreading woodchips under playgrounds, picking up dead leaves and garbage, trimming trees, and tasks like that that we hope will help them kind of stretch their manpower and do some maintenance on our parks,” said Kim Skornogoski, United Way Marketing Director.
She said this is the most parks they’ve ever been able to adopt in the seven years they’ve been doing it.
Some of the parks worked on were Elk’s Riverside Park, Heren Park, Jaycee Park, Meadowlark Park, and Madison Park.
The event was organized as a way to celebrate National Volunteer Month.
