Gusty winds led to a fire on Medicine River Road in Vaughn, toppling a power line to go down and spark.
The fire sparked just before 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Firefighters were in the process of mopping up the original fire when it continued to spark and jump the river.
Several more agencies responded to help keep the flames from spreading..
Several hours went by as they continued this battle.
Kenneth Hanks, assistant fire chief for Vaughn Fire, says this is a good reminder to take care of your property before fire season starts: "Some of the good things to do right now while the season hasn’t really hit us yet is start prepping your property, pull flammables away from your house, cut the grass short, keep it watered. Any outbuilding, any junk vehicles, cut around them. Keep that fuel low. That’ll buy us time and possibly save your property."
A DNRC helicopter was also called in to drop water on the fire.
Hanks says no one was hurt.
The fire burned an between 10 and 40 acres.
