Desiree Linden became the first American woman in 33 years to win the Boston Marathon Monday, but several local runners also finished the race.
Taylor Cummings, 26, of Sheridan, Wyo., was the top female finisher with a time of 3:21:45. That time placed her 4613th overall and 575th amongst females.
Second for the local contingent was Cortney Lynde of Red Lodge. The 26-year-old finished 6,670th overall with a time of 3:28:25.
Ruth Dye and Teresa Larsen, two 40-year-old female runners from Billings, crossed the finish line at the same time. 4:01:52 was their total time, good for 928th amongst the 40-44 age group.
Yuki Kawauchi of Japan took the men’s title with a time of 2:15:58. California’s Shadrack Biwott was the top American with a third place finish.
Locally, 26-year-old Jehremy Felig of Billings, finished with a time of 3:29:94. That placed him 7,250th overall and 2,994th for the 18-39 age division.
Del Acker of Sheridan, Wyo., crossed the line in 5:44:11. The time does not put him on pace with any of the top finishers, but very impressive, considering he is 68 years old.
