BOZEMAN – The Bozeman School District will be preparing for its May ballot at Monday’s meeting. There are three things the board will be approving for the ballot.
One is the slate of candidates running for the three trustee seats open in the elementary school district and one in the high school district.
In the elementary district, Douglas Fischer, Gary Lusin, and Wendy Tage are running as the incumbents for their open seats. Gary McGowan is the only challenger.
For the high school district, incumbent Sandy Wilson is running unopposed.
The second item on the Board’s agenda is the annual general funds operating levies. Voters will see a mill for the high school of $.055 and $1.60.
For a home valued at $100,000 this would be an annual total tax of $2.90.
The final thing voters will see on the ballot is the approval for two new school sites that the district would like to purchase. The good news for voters with this piece of the ballot is it will not cost them any money.
“There will be no taxation involved with those. We already have the funds, along with the Emerson sale, which is going through smoothly. We will not have to ask the voters for any additional money,” said School Board Chairman Andy Willett.
The ballots will be mailed by the County Election Office on April 23 and they will be due back to the elections office on May 8 by 8:00 p.m.
