BOZEMAN- The 2nd Annual Adult Mountain Soapbox Derby kicked off in Livingston today.

Twelve different teams competed against one another to see who could finish the downhill course the fastest.

Creek to Peak Owner Frank Gazella Jr. says he started this race last year to bring something new and exciting to Montana.

"Everybody is saying the flow and event are awesome and some of the teams after two runs are like we can’s wait for next year," said Gazella.

Racer Shane Forsythe won the Derby last year. He says he used his first run to familiarize himself with the course.

"It’s really really bumpy and you got the hay bales and you are trying to get really close to them to try and get the shortest line and it gets really intense. You really have to focus," said Forsythe.

The winner of the race wins $500. Some of the proceeds raised from this event are donated to Park High School to build The Ranger Station, a mobile coffee trailer.
