SEATTLE – Denise Juneau has been selected as the new superintendent of Seattle public schools, according to reports from Seattle media.
Juneau, Montana’s former public school’s superintendent, was selected in a 7-0 vote by Seattle School Board, according to The Seattle Times.
She was one of three candidates for the job and would be Seattle’s first Native American superintendent.
Juneau, 50, served two terms as Montana’s Superintendent of Public Instruction before making an unsuccessful bid as Democrat to unseat then Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke, a Republican, in 2016.
