BOZEMAN – The city of Bozeman is taking steps to ensure the city is prepared for the future, and a new $10,000 grant will help with those plans.
The grant was given to the city through the Sustainable Cities Institute, which is part of the National League of Cities Resiliency Program.
Between Bozeman’s population growth and climate change concerns, Mayor Cyndy Andrus applied for the grant to make sure city staff and residents are ready for just about anything.
Whether it be a drought or earthquake, Mayor Andrus says that focusing on resiliency is important for our community and part of the planning process.
“Well, I think that there are these extreme events that are beginning to happen, and the conversation is now about how are communities dealing with these big events because we’ve had so many of them across the country,” said Andrus.
A portion of the grant will also go to hosting a summit that will bring residents and city staff together to create a better understanding of resiliency.
Mayor Andrus says she expects that the event will take place sometime in the fall.
