BILLINGS — A child at a Billings elementary school has a new pair of gloves to keep him warm at recess thanks to a Billings police officer.
Officer Seth Foster was on patrol near Broadwater Elementary School mid-March when he saw a young playing with a football by himself after school hours, said BPD Chief Rich St. John on Tuesday.
The officer stopped and asked the boy why he did not have any gloves considering how cold it was and the boy said his mother could not afford gloves.
The next day, Officer Foster purchased a pair of gloves and returned to the school to give the gloves to the boy as a gift.
St. John commended Officer Foster, a 9-year department veteran, saying he embodies the "care and compassion" our officers demonstrate daily.
"(He) went above and beyond to make a difference in this boy’s life," said St. John in an email.
