For the second year in a row, a Billings restaurant had the opportunity to represent Montana on the national stage.

Last weekend, The Burger Dive participated in "Flavored Nation," where chefs create dishes that represent their state.

This year the event was held in Columbus Ohio, where Burger Dive owner Brad Halsten and his son prepared Huckleberry Bison Meatballs, which are described as "similar to beef meatballs, the bison is ground and combined with eggs, bread crumbs, and seasoning. Bison is a leaner more tender meat. It is also known to have a sweeter taste."

The Burger Dive will return to the World Food Championships again in October as well, in hopes of taking home the World's Best Burger title for the third time.

“It was cool because it wasn't a competition this time,” Halsten said. “We love competing but this was kind of a different experience. Fifty chefs there, all from different states, just kind of bringing something that represented where they came from. It was fun to get to know everybody and fun to try the different dishes from around the country and just to see what differnt states had to represent where they're from. We enjoyed it.”

If you would like to give the Huckleberry Bison Meatballs a try, The Burger Dive will offer them as a special on Thursday.

Some of the other entries, as listed on the Flavored Nation website , included Tomato Pie (Alabama), Spam Musubi (Hawaii), and Pumpkin Soup (New Hampshire).
