Schools in towns across Montana joined others across the country in organizing and participating in a "Turn on the Stadium Lights" campaign, honoring students, staff and communities during the social distance measures caused by the novel coronavirus.

Sidney High School activities director Chris Lee was among the participants in Montana. Lee shared the following email on Friday afternoon. Lee said Stacey Collins, the Eagles' track and field coach, showed him the campaign, which consisted of schools in at least the states of North Dakota, Minnesota and Colorado.

"Sidney High School will be joining in with other schools to turn on the stadium lights. We will be turning on the football stadium lights tonight, Friday April 3, from 7:00 to 9:30PM as a way to honor our students, staff, and community members in this time of distance learning while school buildings are closed due to COVID-19 concerns.

"These lights are a symbol of hope and an assurance that our students are in our hearts and on our minds. As anyone sees the lights, be assured that we are still there for our community and our students. No matter the struggles, the Sidney Eagle Family is in this together!"
