Gallatin County health officials announced six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, June 4, in addition to two cases reported to the public on Wednesday.
MTN News is counting 538 total cases. The state's confirmed case count is 539, which includes a Jefferson County resident who reportedly has not been in Montana for several weeks, did not acquire COVID-19 in Montana, and has not been in contact with anyone in the state after testing positive.
The state conducted 1,194 new tests, for a total of 44,642.
There are currently 55 active COVID-19 cases in Montana.
Currently, Gallatin County has a cumulative total of 163 cases. There are 13 confirmed active cases. There have been a total of 149 people recovered in Gallatin County. One person has died from COVID-19 complications.
The new cases are located in various locations across Gallatin County.
Gallatin City-County Health Officer Matt Kelley will be holding a press conference today (June 4) at 2 p.m. Mountain Time to give an update on COVID-19 in Gallatin County. It will be live streamed on Facebook.
Health officials say as the phased reopening of Montana continues, it’s important to remember that the virus is still present in Gallatin County. Please remember these important guidelines to keep yourself, your family and your communities safe during reopening:
● Continue to practice good hygiene, and stay vigilant with handwashing and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.
● Consider using cloth face coverings while in public, especially in situations where physical distancing may be difficult.
● If you are sick, stay at home and contact a medical provider.
