BOZEMAN — Most hunters in Montana not only enjoy the thrill of the hunt, but also putting all that game meat in a freezer for future meals.
However, some do not consume the meat. For the past 6 years a program called Hunters Against Hunger has allowed those hunters to donate their game meat for those in need around the area. Dozens of local processors take care of the meat that is available through various food banks and pantries in Southwest Montana.
FWP’s Morgan Jacobsen says the program has been a positive not only for those receiving the meat but for those that want to hunt but not consume the game. The Hunters Against Hunger program was featured during Montana This Morning's weekly This Week in Fish and Wildlife segment.
