Obituary: Kay Molendyk

Kay Molendyk passed away peacefully at her home in Parkhaven Assisted Living on Friday, July 10, 2020.

Kay was born September 27, 1932 to George H. and Rose (Smits) DeJong in Lansing, Illinois, and baptized Catherine Viola DeJong. Kay met Edward Molendyk of Bozeman, Montana in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri (Army base) in 1952 while visiting her sister and brother-in-law. They were married on January 7, 1955, in Lansing, moving to Montana to raise their family in 1964. Mom enjoyed gardening and taking care of her home and family. Her favorite pastimes through the years would be playing her piano and organ and visiting her children and grandchildren.

Ed and Kay were blessed with three children, Jay Edward (January 31, 1956 – January 3, 1985), Judy (Darrel) DeHaan, and Joyce (Ken) Blanksma.

In addition, she is survived by her covenant grandchildren, Jason (Christine) DeHaan, Barry (Monique) DeHaan, Travis (Katie) DeHaan, Jonathan (Amanda) Molock, Troy (Erin) DeHaan, Kendall (Brittnee) DeHaan, Andrew (Heidi) Burger, Derrick (Lisa) Blanksma, Katie Blanksma, Trenton (Rebecca) Blanksma, Dillon Blanksma, and Kevin (Logan) Blanksma; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ellen Gabrielse and Wilmetta (Billy) Jabaay; brother, Jim (Shirley) DeJong; and sister-in-law, Ida DeJong; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, and their families.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 31, at Belgrade United Reformed Church, 17333 Frontage Road.
