Bellevue, NE (KETV ) — Fresh pizzas came straight out of the oven outside the First Baptist Church of Bellevue on Sunday afternoon.
Inside, families laughed, played and shared a warm meal, if only for a little while. For Karim Abdul and Scott Wilson, there was one goal to achieve.

“Full bellies help take your mind off of everything else,” Wilson said.
“You made a contribution to somebody’s life, to change it. That feeling is priceless,” Abdul said.
Abdul and his team cranked out hundreds of pies for hungry families, just as he does every day working at the Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom in Papillion.
His community’s perseverance inspired him to call Wilson, the director of operations for Old Chicago in Nebraska, and stop by the church in spite of Abdul’s own losses.
“We lost the house (in Paradise Lakes), and then we can’t get in right now, so I don’t know what kind of damage there is right now, but yeah, everything is gone, as far as I can know right now,” Abdul said.
For now, Abdul said he relished the opportunity to provide a small but tasty comfort for his neighbors.
“That’s basically the whole point behind it: Change peoples lives and taking them out from the thought process they are in right now, just to give them some relief,” Abdul said.
Old Chicago will follow Abdul’s example. Wilson said on April 10, all of the company’s locations in Nebraska will donate a portion of their sales to help with flood relief.
