Indianapolis (WRTV) — Two toddlers were seriously hurt when the vehicle they were in crashed during a police chase late Tuesday morning in Indianapolis.
According to a spokesman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers had gone to a hotel in the 2800 block of North Shadeland Avenue to check on a disturbance.
Police spotted an SUV that was ramming another car in the parking lot and then took off on Shadeland.
Police gave chase and a few blocks later, the driver lost control and the SUV crashed into a tree.
Three children were in the vehicle.
Two of them, described by police as toddlers, suffered serious injuries while the third child was not hurt.
The woman who was driving the vehicle is believed to be the mother of the children, according to police.
She was taken to a hospital for a blood draw to see if drugs or alcohol played a part in the incident.
