SUV veers off road, crash lands on carport at apartment complex

    San Diego (KGTV) — An SUV veered off the road and crash landed on top of a carport at a Mira Mesa apartment complex early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened just before 1 a.m. at the Mirabella Point apartments in the 10000 block of Maya Linda Road, according to reports from the scene.

Several residents told 10News an SUV somehow tumbled off a road just above the apartment complex, went down an embankment, crashed through a fence and landed on a carport. An SUV and pickup truck parked under the carport were damaged and pinned by the port’s roof.

Witnesses said the SUV’s driver was honking his horn, leading many residents to come out to help him out of the vehicle.

He was taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.

No other injuries were reported.

It remains unclear if the owners of the SUV and truck parked in the carport are aware of the crash.
