Police seek assistance in identifying man found dead in Allatoona Lake

    Bartow County, GA (WGCL) — The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s help in identifying a man found dead in Allatoona Lake in September.

The body of the man was found by the Bartow County Fire Department around 5:30 p.m. on September 1 in the Bethany Bridge area.

Police tell CBS46 the man had sustained a gun shot wound to his temple and had rocks and sand in his backpack. He was also wearing small weights on both ankles.

He is described as a white male between 55 and 65 years old. He stands about 5’10” tall and weighs around 230 pounds and was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops.

An autopsy was conducted on September but it was unable to identify the man. A sketch has been created by the GBI.
