Flint Township, MI (WJRT) — A Flint Township man is facing 25 felony charges for allegedly robbing, kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 88-year-old woman last week.
The 41-year-old suspect, whose name is not being released because he hasn’t been arraigned, was arrested after putting the woman through a harrowing day-long ordeal.
Police say the suspect got into the woman’s residence on Lowden Street near the intersection of Corunna and Graham roads and demanded money, according to the Flint Township Police Department.
He allegedly sexually assaulted the woman and stole her handgun before forcing her into her Chevrolet Impala. Once there, the suspect forced the woman to go with him to numerous locations in Burton and Flint to get cash and buy a television.
Court documents released Monday show he stole a $2,000 check, $400 in cash and forced the woman to buy him a 60-inch TV at Walmart valued at more than $650.
After driving around, the suspect brought the victim back to her residence, stole her vehicle and left the area, police say.
Police determined the suspect’s identity and launched a search for him. A Flint Township police officer found his vehicle in the area of Corunna Road and Ryan Street on the other side of I-75 from the woman’s residence.
Officers from three agencies, including a Michigan State Police K-9 team, tracked down the suspect and arrested him after a short foot pursuit.
He allegedly assaulted a police officer during the arrest and officers found less than 25 grams of cocaine on him after his arrest.
The suspect is facing the following charges as a result of the incident:
— First-degree home invasion.
— Attempted first-degree home invasion.
— First-degree criminal sexual conduct using a weapon.
— Unlawful imprisonment.
— Two counts of armed robbery.
— Kidnapping.
— Carjacking.
— Felon in possession of a firearm.
— Felon in possession of ammunition.
— Carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
— 12 counts of committing a felony while armed with a firearm.
— Possession of less than 25 grams of cocaine.
— Assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer.
The suspect faces up to life in prison if convicted of the most serious charges. He likely will be arraigned on Tuesday.
