James Wilcox (KETV) — Ally Moffatt was 15 years old when a tow truck slammed into the car she was sitting in, which had broken down on the Kennedy Freeway.
“I go through the mourning, the five stages of mourning, over and over and over again,” Ally’s mother, Anne Moffatt, said. “The day of the accident is the day I lost my daughter.”
Ally suffered critical injuries and spent a month in the intensive care unit. She then spent five more months in rehab facilities.
Ally can no longer talk or walk.
“I was thinking the other day that there was never a funeral. I know people might think that’s horrible to say because she survived, but she’s not here. The girl I know is gone,” Moffatt said.
Moffatt, a single parent, quit her job to help provide the 24-hour care her daughter now requires. Ally suffered a traumatic brain injury and is now a quadriplegic.
“The man who caused this isn’t even charged with a crime related to my daughter. No matter what happens in the trial, she’ll never see justice. She was only 15 and her life is gone,” Moffatt said.
A fund is set up at First Central Congregational Church at 34th and Farnam streets to help Moffatt with expenses. A GoFundMe page has also been set up to assist the family.
