Allegan County, MI (WNEM) — Hanna Rose turned 8-years-old, and she has plenty of birthday cards to read.

In fact, there are around 100.

“I didn’t expect anything except maybe a card or two, and they’ve been coming in all week. Twenty a day,” said Jan Rose, Hanna’s mom.

The Allegan County mother came up with the idea, as words of encouragement to her daughter for her birthday.

“I started writing a letter to her, and then I thought that I wanted 365 cards so she’d have one to open every day to remind her how strong she is, and to keep being her.”

Then Jan went to Facebook with a post, asking anyone to help her write the letters.

“I posted it last Friday. My first card came on Monday for her,” Jan said. “I can’t believe it. I can’t believe there are so many people that want to say nice things. It’s amazing to read some of these. It’s very uplifting. Some of them are happy and it makes you cry. It’s amazing.”

Now Hanna has around 100 letters, from as far away as Ohio and Arkansas, and she can’t wait to read them all.

“Today I feel very special because all these people sent me these lovely cards. And, that makes me feel very special,” Hanna said.

“It’s something you’re going to remember forever. You’re going to remember all the strangers everywhere that wanted to encourage you, empower you, and make sure you become the best that you can be.”
