Odenton, MD (WMAR) — Police found over 30 guns inside a man’s home after he was arrested for shooting at firefighters Friday evening.

Around 7 p.m., firefighters were called to a house in the 2600 block of Evergreen Road for a man burning a fire pit. Officials say the firefighters asked the homeowner, James Ernest Armentrout, to put out his fire, but he instead became upset and ran into his home.

Moments later, officials say Armentrout came out with a gun and shot it into the air as the fire department was leaving. Fire crews left the home and then called police.

Police responded and were able to arrest Armentrout without incident. Officers then searched his house where they found 34 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition inside.

Nobody was injured during the shooting. Armentrout is being charged with discharging a firearm within 100 feet of a structure and reckless endangerment.
