Honolulu, HI (KITV) — A buzzy Sunday morning for Kason Padilla and his family.

Over 12,000 bees were on a tree outside Padilla’s home in Moiliili.

“It was surprising, obviously, but felt kinda cool? Such an odd event,” Padilla said.

He said his family immediately called a beekeeper from Aloha Bee to take care of the buzz-are scene.

“[The beekeeper] was young, nice and super knowledgeable. Came over a few hours after we called,” Padilla said.

After the cleanup, there’s even a souvenir to keep. The beekeeper found honey in a chunk of comb and the Padillas’ had a chance to try some.

Pictured above is Kelsy, Padilla’s sister, getting a taste of honey fresh from the comb.

Although the family had an un-bee-lievable experience, the hive has been developing outside their yard for two months. The bees never made a buzz loud enough until today for the family to notice.
