TEMPE, Ariz. (KNXV) — A woman was arrested after stabbing her ex-husband inside a Tempe mosque.

Tempe police report that on October 12, they responded to a mosque near Price Road and University Drive for a stabbing call.

Police learned that 61-year-old Naam Hamie was in the kitchen cutting tomatoes when her ex-husband entered the mosque and walked into the library.

She grabbed the kitchen knife and confronted him about showing up at her place of employment. He reportedly told her that, “he would come to the mosque whether she liked it or not.”

At that time, she allegedly stabbed him three times — twice in the chest and once in the groin.

Another person in the mosque heard the man scream and disarmed Hamie. Police arrested her at the scene.

She reportedly told police that she and the victim were married for 35 years and divorced over a year ago. She also accused him of having an affair.

She told police that he was, “provoking and disrespecting her by being at the mosque because other members would talk about them.”

Hamie has been charged with aggravated assault.
