Kristin Byrne (WTMJ) — A Wisconsin man moved his family to Panama City Beach just days ago and now they’re forced to pack their bags and flee as Hurricane Michael makes it way to the Florida Panhandle.

“We could barely get started. We barely had maybe ten boxes undone,” said Chris Baumann.

Baumann moved with his family of six from Lake Mills. He said he relied on help from his new neighbors to secure shutters around his new house.

“I’m from Wisconsin. I don’t know about hurricanes. I’ve got all these shutters in my garage. What goes where? How do you put them on?” said Baumann.

Baumann left with his family to his parents’ home, north of Orlando. They plan to stay there until after the storm passes.

His biggest fear is the storm surges and he’s terrified of how his new house will handle Hurricane Michael.

“You have to do what you have to do. I’m very nervous. I’m very anxious about this,” said Baumann.
