Marietta, GA (WGCL) — A petition is floating around asking for a cheerleading coach to return to Marietta High School following her resignation after a trip.
Teisha Fooster resigned earlier this week after taking the girls on an unauthorized trip to Washington, D.C.
The cheerleaders went on the trip to support the football team in September. Parents raised $10,000 for a bus and hotel rooms. Parents also accompanied the cheerleading team, but the trip was not approved by the school district.
Fooster was placed on administrative leave after the trip.
The cheerleading team told CBS46 News that parents were concerned that their coach allowed the trip, even through the school district didn’t approve. However, they didn’t want to see Fooster leave the high school.
“They said that we weren’t approved to go, but I mean, the football players went. Did you not think that the cheerleaders were going to want to go down there and support them?” asked cheerleader Jamya Murray.
Fooster worked at the high school for 17 years, coaching some of the girls for four years.
