OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) — A grand jury has found no evidence of wrongdoing in connection with five in-custody deaths in Douglas County.
The grand jury was called to investigate the deaths of Charles McNeal on November 3, 2017; Susan Kiscoan on September 28, 2017; Douglas Hitzel on September 25, 2017; Stephen Caldwell o August 8, 2018 and Jesse Twohig on August 16, 2018.
Under the supervision of Judge Kimberly Miller Pankonin, the grand jury convened Tuesday, October 2nd. Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine presented evidence for each case that day.
The grand jury completed deliberations Wednesday afternoon concluding that there had been no criminal conduct on the pary of any individual regarding any of the deaths.
State law requires a grand jury investigation for any in-custody death.
