Lee County, FL (WFTX) — Researchers are coming to Southwest Florida to determine what kind of impact the algae can have on your health.
Scientists are testing people for toxins from red tide and the algae blooms.
Researchers from the Florida Atlantic University Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute will test people who live and work near algae.
They will evaluate the levels of toxins present in human bodies.
They just conducted some testing over on the West coast in Stuart.
The results will help them better understand the human health risks tied to algae.
They are fundraising to bring testing to Southwest Florida.
They plan to do it in 3 weeks on October 15th.
Testing is free and they are looking for volunteers.
