ATLANTA (WGCL) — As storm evacuees spend yet another day in metro Atlanta, they are quickly learning they’re in good hands and out of harm’s way.

“I really felt welcome by the community,” said evacuee Margaret Schuh.

Urban Enterprises has teamed up with businesses throughout Atlanta to bring a little kindness to those fleeing Florence.

“It’s the right thing to do,” said volunteer Linda Rogers. “We never know when we’re going to be in a situation.”

At the Wingate Hotel in Fairburn, elderly evacuees from South Carolina continue to receive great care from the community, enjoying many donated meals.

“So this is a way for me giving back whatever I’m able to do to assist,” said caregiver Keta Smith.

Incredibly, there’s so much more this amazing city is doing for those who have been displaced. The Atlanta Braves are offering complimentary tickets to the next three home games at SunTrust Park.

Over at the Fox Theater, evacuees can enjoy free matinee tickets to the hit Broadway show Aladdin. And many restaurants are offering great deals too. At the Big Ketch in Buckhead they are taking 20 percent off the bill.

“Atlanta cares. We want you to come visit us, we want you to feel welcome when you’re here and I think it’s just great that the community is coming together like this,” said Big Ketch manager Kevin Robins.

But for those that can’t easily get around to take advantage of all the deals, you can make a difference by taking a little southern hospitality to them.

“Some of the residents here they want people to spend time with. That’s what we’re asking the public. Come out bring some bingo cards, bring some books and spend some time with these folks. They’ve got some great stories too,” said Fairburn Police Chief Deputy Anthony Bazydlo.

Urban Kindness and its partners are offering special deals for all hurricane evacuees, including restaurants, entertainment and everything in between. To check out a full list of deals, please visit HERE.
