Mobile, AL (WALA) — Two of Mobile’s finest did a good deed for a family in need. The officers saw a fence that had been vandalized and decided to help out.
They say they saw a problem that simply needed correcting and they were up for the task.
Officers Aaron McKee and Cathryn Cormier say they were riding through Midtown on their break and saw a home’s fence with a blue stripe along it.
A Facebook post said it happened after a football game Friday night, an act of vandalism.
“The gentleman was working in the yard and everything is really nice and so he was like look at the line on the fence and then I was like well let’s stop and ask him if we can paint it,” said Officer Cormier.
So the officers stopped and painted the white pickett fence back to its original state with a fresher look, of course.
While they were painting, some neighbors took notice and took pictures of them and put them on social media. From there, the story took off. It was posted Tuesday evening and now has 1.2 thousand shares.
“We try to do good deeds for our community. They give so much for us and support us so much and that out calling from Facebook and from social media and from the media, you guys, its just been amazing,” said Officer McKee. “It totally shocked us. They were like ‘hey did you check your email?’ Like ‘oh no what happened?'”
Mckee and Cormier work with a mounted unit. They spend a lot of time with their horses whether out on the streets or in the barn.
They say its always a pleasure to get a break from their everyday grind and lend a helping hand to the community.
