Wolcott, CT (WFSB) — A Wolcott man has been on a mission to protect his bird feeders from an onslaught of hungry bears.
Stephen Munro said he’d been having a problem with clever bears giving his feeders a shakedown, despite steps taken to protect them.
One video he posted to Facebook last month showed a bear shaking the tall stand to free the birdseed from its lofty perch.
He has since put the feeders on a tall, 4 inch wide pipe full of sand. Still, the bears came.
He said he working on replacing the sand with concrete and rebars.
He also noted that the manufacturer of his pole is working on a better arm so the feeders won’t come crashing down with excessive shaking.
Munro’s latest post from Tuesday showed some of the excessive shaking by a tagged bear.
“We shall overcome!” Munro posted.
