Portland, OR (KPTV) — Police say a suspected street racer hit a person early Sunday morning while performing dangerous driving maneuvers in Portland and then fled the scene.
The man who was hurt, a spectator who was not in a vehicle during the alleged incident, visited a hospital in Vancouver, Washington Monday.
Police say the spectator suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers say the alleged racing event occurred around 9:30 p.m. Sunday in a parking lot near Northeast 142nd Avenue and Northeast Airport Way.
Investigators Monday learned that the suspect and the involved car, a black Infiniti G35, were at a home in the 12800 block of Southeast Foster Road.
While at the home, officers observed damage on the Infiniti consistent with striking a pedestrian and arrested 22-year-old Vladyslav Momotok.
Momotok was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail, where he faces charges of reckless driving and fail to perform the duties of a driver (felony level).
The Portland Police Bureau Sunday evening issued eight citations and six warning to people believed to be involved in or present at street racing events in north and northeast Portland.
