COTTONWOOD, AZ (KTVK) — A teacher in Cottonwood has been arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with a teenager.
Police say 22-year-old Isabella Bowman, a teacher at Dr. Daniel Bright School, was arrested for sexual conduct with a 17-year-old boy.
Even though Bowman is a teacher at DDB it doesn’t appear any students of the Cottonwood-Oak Creek District were involved or that there was any inappropriate contact with those students.
The 17-year-old victim attends a school outside of that district and the relationship appears to have originated outside of any school setting.
Police say Bowman, a middle-school teacher, may face additional charges.
“We do not believe there are any other victims at this time. However, this investigation is still ongoing,” said Detective Sgt. Chad Sinn.
Bowman has been placed on administrative leave.
The district released the following letter to parents about the incident:
Dear COCSD Families;
I wanted to inform you of an issue involving a teacher to ensure that you have factual information that might dispel any rumors floating around the community. A middle school teacher, Ms. Isabella Miller-Bowman, at Dr. Daniel Bright Elementary School was placed on administrative leave today pending a full investigation for alleged possession of marijuana and alleged sexual misconduct with a non-COCSD teen student, which occurred outside of the school environment.
The matter is being investigated by the Cottonwood Police Department and will be dealt with appropriately. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Cottonwood Police Department. We have no reason to believe that any of COCSD’s students were involved by this incident or that there was any inappropriate contact with any of COCSD’s children.
COCSD is committed to the safety of all students and expects all staff to adhere to the highest ethical practices and conduct when it comes to our community’s children. We must all work together, staff, students, families and community to provide a safe learning environment for children to learn, grow and thrive.
