JACKSON COUNTY, MO (KCTV/KSMO) — Family members fear two bodies discovered in a wooded area near Longview Lake could belong to two men who have been missing for nine days.
Loved ones last heard from Michael Brewer and Keith Wasmer on Monday, Aug. 6.
Police say the call came in at 12:49 p.m. on Wednesday.
Two bodies were found deep in the woods in the area of the 12500 block of Raytown Road.
Brewer and Wasmer disappeared after they drove to Longview Lake Marina to meet a man named Sam. Wasmer’s car was found abandoned with a door left wide open.
“Their phones have been off ever since,” said Deana Cathey, a friend.
Family and friends have held search parties and shared missing person flyers. After news came out about the bodies’ discovery on Wednesday afternoon, they rushed to a crime scene.
Michael’s father says waiting for word is painful.
“It’s really difficult to process right now,” said Jeff Brewer, Michael’s father. “The worst goes through your head. The ones that suffer the most are the family members because we are so desperate for information.”
Wasmer’s mother worries someone took her son and Brewer away from their families.
“Two people were missing and two people were found,” Shannon Wasmer said. “My mom instinct isn’t doing so well right now. He is not supposed to go before me.”
Investigators have not confirmed the identity of the bodies.
