BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) — A 26-year-old man was arrested early Thursday morning after he fled from deputies and rammed a patrol vehicle in Beaverton.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy saw a gray Honda Civic drive through a red light at Southwest 185th Avenue and West Baseline Road at around 2:23 a.m.
Deputies pursued the vehicle as it fled at a high rate of speed going westbound on West Baseline Road, then north on Southwest 195th Avenue. The pursuit ended in a cul-de-sac on Southwest Seminole Drive.
The sheriff’s office said the driver rammed a patrol vehicle head-on and then fled the scene on foot.
Beaverton Police Officer Wolfe and his partner, K9 Enzo, assisted deputies in searching for the suspect. Beaverton police said K9 Enzo located the suspect, identified as Anthony Strohm of Hillsboro, hiding in blackberry bushes behind a home.
Deputies found a spring-assisted knife inside Strohm’s pocket. The sheriff’s office said deputies seized a handgun, methamphetamine, stolen license plates, and burglary tools.
A 23-year-old woman was inside the suspect vehicle during the pursuit. She was not injured.
Strohm was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, attempt to elude in a vehicle, attempt to elude on foot, attempted assault on a public safety officer, attempted second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of methamphetamine, possession of burglary tools, second-degree criminal mischief, and two counts of third-degree theft.
The deputy whose vehicle was rammed sustained minor injuries and was treated at an area hospital.
