Brentwood, MO (KMOV) — Just feet from where kids play with their dogs, Brentwood police stretched crime scene tape after a carjacking.
Brentwood police say the crime, which happened off Brentwood near Strassner, was not exactly stranger on stranger. Police believe the suspect and victim met in the parking lot of the Mid-County YMCA.
“Kind of like other crimes it’s about opportunity,” said Officer Angela Hawkins with Brentwood police.
At some point, things escalated, and the buyer was beaten, dragged across the street to Memorial Park and locked in a bathroom.
“Typically when dealing with narcotics violence comes hand in hand,” said Hawkins.
Police say the drug seller then got into the buyer’s car and drove off.
The incident comes on the heels of three other violent crimes in the area. In July, a woman was carjacked a few blocks away on Swan Circle.
