Atlanta, Ga. (WGCL) — Police escorts and a ride share program will be made available to students at Georgia State University. Authorities are beefing up security following a weekend of campus violence.

Saturday, a former student was shot outside the Commons Campus Dorms on Piedmont Avenue.

College officials tell CBS46 reporter Aiyana Crystal they are also launching an app for students where they can request an escort, call police or check on when the ride safe will be in the area.

We spoke with GSU Police Chief and he tells us he wants to make sure students feel safe.
