Virginia Beach, VA (WTKR) — A Virginia Beach teen charged for breaking into the home of a Virginia Beach Police officer and shooting the officer’s dog will be tried as an adult.
Virginia Beach Circuit Court upheld the ruling Monday to transfer the 17-year-old to Circuit Court. His case will go to the grand jury on August 20, and his name will be released if the indictment goes through.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. on December 17 in the 1700 block of Gravenhurst Drive, near Indian River Road and Lynnhaven Parkway.
According to police, four armed suspects forced their way into the home of a Virginia Beach Police officer.
The family’s dog, Zulu, chased the suspects out of the home. One of the suspects then shot Zulu.
The dog survived the shooting.
