GREAT FALLS — Cascade County Sheriff/Coroner Jesse Slaughter on Thursday identified Ty Colin Harrison as the man who died in a rollover crash on January 1st.

Sheriff Slaughter said in a news release that at 11:17 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the crash site at mile marker 46 of US Highway 89 between Monarch and Neihart.

The vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree. Deputies found Harrison deceased in the driver's seat of the vehicle.

Sheriff Slaughter said that alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Blunt force trauma has been listed as the cause of death, and the manner of death was accidental.

(JANUARY 2) The Montana Highway Patrol confirmed that a 29-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash on Friday.

The man was driving a Toyota 4Runner by himself when his vehicle drifted off the road and hit a tree. The crash was reported to MHP at 11:18 a.m., but a highway trooper said it was unclear when the crash happened and it could have occurred as early as Thursday night.

The road conditions were dry, according to MHP. Whether factors like speed or alcohol played a role in the crash were not yet clear as of Friday afternoon. Damage to the vehicle and body also made it difficult to determine whether he was wearing a seatbelt.

The man's name has not yet been released. MHP continues to investigate; we'll update you if we learn more.
