LATEST ON OUR WINTER STORM:
A Winter Storm Watch is out for the area from Saturday morning through Sunday evening. A strong cold front will push colder air into place through your Saturday afternoon as we see moisture run over the colder air. This will bring rain to the area initially for your Saturday afternoon with a changeover to a rain/snow mix to all snow by Saturday evening.
With warmer ground temperatures in place we will likely see any snow that falls melt quickly, but with the cold air pressing into the region, we are expecting to see accumulations pick up through early Sunday morning. The latest model data shows areas like Boulder and Anaconda picking up the heaviest accumulation by early Sunday morning which could be in excess of 3”. Butte and Bozeman will see lighter accumulation, but some models are pushing numbers above 2” by mid-morning on Sunday. Much of the snow accumulation hinges on when we see the changeover from rain to snow.
While snow is the main focus, we should also pay attention to overnight temperatures this weekend and early next week as lows fall into the teens and middle 20s from Saturday evening through Tuesday evening.
