Cooler temperatures and more wind

BOZEMAN – A complex atmospheric conditions again today producing gusty winds and isolated thunderstorms. Strong area of Low-pressure over southern British Columbia, Canada produced showers and thunderstorms for most of western and NW Montana Sunday morning.

A cold front is passing slowly through the state with much cooler 50s and 60s in western Montana vs mid to upper 80s in far eastern Montana.

Sunday afternoon and early evening will continue to be very windy for SW Montana. Sustained winds 15-30 mph with gusts over 40 mph at times. The pressure gradient producing the stronger surface winds will relax after sunset with winds settling down to 5-15 mph overnight.

A few isolated thunderstorms could develop over SW Montana Sunday afternoon but a better chance for late day rumbles will hit the region Monday afternoon.

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

Montana gates heading into Yellowstone National Park open Monday June 1st. The general weather forecast for the North and West gates is dry in the morning but windy. Isolated late day thunderstorms are possible Monday.
