At least three people in Butte were given a warning recently from the state Gambling Control Division for operating an illegal super bowl pool.
The state said these sports betting pools were posted on Facebook which is in violation state law. State law also prevents gambling payments to be made through credit cards.
“We had an investigator follow up with the individuals and talked to them about what they were seeing, and they worked with them to get that corrected, and we just used it as an educational opportunity to share with them what those requirements are and they were very responsive,” said Gambling Control Division Administrator Angela Nunn.
