Election season is coming up again.

This year, Gallatin County will buy a new device that will make tallying election results a little faster.

Casey Hayes, elections manager with the county says they plan to buy a new high-speed election tabulator.

The machine digitally scans, counts and calculates the results of all the ballots in Gallatin County.

The county already has two tabulators, but Hayes says they need another.

“We’re now getting our third; we have enough voters in Gallatin County now to necessitate a third tabulator, not only as a function of tabulation but as a backup to the two that we’re currently using,” said Hayes.

The tabulator will cost a little over $83,000 and will be paid for by taxpayers.
