Musician R. Kelly, who is facing multiple sex crime charges, was transported from a Chicago jail to the hospital to undergo an emergency hernia surgery earlier this week, Kelly's attorney told the Chicago Sun Times .
According to TMZ, the surgery caused Kelly to miss a court hearing earlier this week.
Kelly is facing both state and federal charges. He is accused in both a sexual abuse case as well as being part of a child pornography ring.
The Sun Times reported that Kelly is back in his jail cell, and still numb from the surgery.
