Spirited members of the Great Falls community went door-to-door asking businesses to help promote an upcoming fundraising gala for the LGBTQ+ Center.
Drag queen and longtime member of the Great Falls LGBTQ+ Center "Francesca Fierce DeLusty" led the way as LGBTQ+ teens followed in her footsteps.
DeLusty grew up in Great Falls and has seen the city become more open-minded over the years.
“Growing up here in Great Falls, I had a really hard time being myself without being criticized for it and I ended up moving away for a little bit. But coming back I have seen such a difference in the community, how open it is,” DeLusty said, “Even me being able to dress up like this, I mean it’s so inspiring and that’s what I want to do. I want to keep that inspiration going so everyone in Great Falls feels safe,” DeLusty said.
The "Love Is Love Boat" gala is a cruise-themed event to help unite the LGBTQ and supporting communities, so no one feels the need to "abandon ship."
DeLusty explained that this event will help support both the center and the community: “It's our number one fundraiser that we have to help build the center up...which also includes our educational resources and also using our local community to socialize and realize we're all on the same team,” DeLusty said.
The event will be on Friday, February 14th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Black Eagle Community Center.
If you'd like to attend the Love is Love Boat Gala , you can buy tickets in person at the Great Falls LGBTQ+ Center on the second floor of Paris Gibson Square.
